Q: Can I meet with my therapist or counselor in person?

A: Haven Haus is an online (telehealth) platform. In-person meetings are at the discretion of your individual team and provider(s).

Q: Does Haven Haus only serve Black people?

A: No. While the Haven Haus platform aims to connect people of color to therapists of color, we serve anyone in need of mental health support. We recognize that there may be a variety of reasons why someone who may not self-identify as Black, Indigenous, or a Person of Color would desire the expertise that BIPOC practitioners, experts, and advisors provide. For example, a non-Black individual may have a Black partner or Black child and be interested in gaining an objective culturally competent perspective.

Q: How do I connect with my therapist or counselor?

A: You can get connected to your Haven in four ways:

Exchanging messages (like email)

Chatting live (like texting)

Speaking live over the phone

Live video conferencing

Connect in different ways at different times based on your needs and preferences.

All sessions are conducted via phone or video. You will receive an email and/or text reminder with the details of your session 24 hrs before your scheduled appointment. It is a good idea to make sure you have a quiet and private area to fully benefit from your session(s).

Q: I completed my application, when can I start?

A: If you are using insurance, verification can take 1-5 business days. Once verified, you will be notified via email to proceed with the selection of your clinician(s). If you are opting for cash pay, within 1-2 business days, you will be notified via email to proceed with the selection of your clinician(s).

If you are opting for cash pay, rates for individual sessions vary depending on the duration of each session and whether you are connected with a clinical therapist or psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner.
